Settlement Reached in Soft Kitty Lawsuit. August 2017
In August 2017, a settlement was reached in the copyright infringement lawsuit Chase v. Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. et al. that was pending in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. The case concerned the lyrics to the song “Soft Kitty” used on the television series “The Big Bang Theory.” The lawsuit claimed that defendants’ use infringed the copyright owned by the plaintiffs in the lyrics. David Wolf was counsel for the plaintiffs along with Zick Rubin and Brenda Ulrich of Rubin & Ulrich.
Settlement Approved in Harlequin Class Action Lawsuit. June 2016
On June 30, 2016, the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York approved a settlement and award of attorney’s fees and costs in the Keiler v. Harlequin Enterprises Limited et al. class action lawsuit. The case concerned the payment of royalties on e-books. David Wolf was lead counsel for the plaintiffs along with Mike Boni and John Sindoni of Boni & Zack.

The jury in the libel lawsuit Tharp v. Media General, pending in U.S, District Court for the District of South Carolina, rendered a verdict in plaintiff’s favor on May 16, 2014. Second Circuit reverses dismissal of Keiler v. Harlequin class action lawsuit. May 1, 2014
On May 1, 2014 the Second Circuit Court of Appeals reversed the dismissal of one claim in the Keiler v.Harlequin Enterprises Limited et al. class action lawsuit and remanded the case to the district court for further proceedings. David Wolf is counsel for the plaintiffs in this lawsuit concerning the payment of royalties on e-books, along with his co-counsel Mike Boni and John Sindoni of Boni & Zack.

In a decision filed December 16, 2013 by Chief United States District Judge Terry L. Wooten, we successfully defeated defendants’ motion for summary judgment in the libel lawsuit Tharp v. Media General Inc. et al. pending in the United States District Court, District of South Carolina. Appellate Division affirms decision in Lampack v. Grimes. March 1, 2012
In a March 1, 2012 decision, the Appellate Division, First Department, affirmed the trial court’s decision in favor of the author Martha Grimes in the lawsuit brought by her former agent, Peter Lampack. David Wolf represented Martha Grimes in the lawsuit. The Appellate Division’s decision may have broad implications for the interpretation of agreements between authors and literary agents.
